“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one
of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Matthew 25:40 (NIV)

The more I learn about Christ, the more I learn about His unending love for us. The sacrifice made at Calvary for us is beyond my own comprehension when I think about from a selfish, sinful, human viewpoint. How could a perfect God die for such flawed, imperfect human beings – the very humans who put Him there in the first place? It is hard to make sense of, isn’t it?

Fortunately, God does not ask us to make the same sacrifice. I don’t believe any of us are truly capable of making it as Christ was – sinless and blameless in God’s eyes. God does ask us though to love one another and to give freely of our gifts and offerings so that others may experience God’s grace and mercy.

Each of you should give whatever you have decided.
You shouldn’t be sorry that you gave or feel forced to give, since God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (God’s Word Translation)

Giving to others of our time, money and resources can be a very rewarding experience! When we give of our time, we are actively living out the Gospel, as God’s hands and feet. We are living and working as the Body of Christ. When we feed the poor, we are living out  the feeding of the 5,000 and when we clothe the poor, we are as Tabitha (Dorcas), who clothed the poor, when we listen to and counsel a hurting person, we are caring for more than just emotions – we are caring for a soul and carrying them to Jesus on our knees, as we’re taught to do in James 5:16. And finally, when we care for others, we’re obeying Jesus’ commandment to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

The more I learn about Jesus, the more I learn my own immense need for Him. One moment without God, and I’d be sunk for sure. Out of the overflow of love and blessings that God has bestowed upon me, I offer up my own sacrifices to Him, often by serving and loving the very people He created. The following links are to various charities and organizations that I feel carry the great weight and burden of loving others and extending mercy and grace to hurting and healing souls. Not all of them are going to be causes you will agree with, and that’s okay. I’ve learned over time that there are many different ways to practice Christianity, Islam and Judaism and while some of us can all work together, others aren’t quite there yet. That’s okay! There’s no condemnation here! It took me a long time, too. 🙂 Please take a few moments to check out these links, and prayerfully consider giving of your time, love and money to these folks. You’ll be better for it and so will they!
